Pettit, EchoGram are one of Ireland's brightest hopes for 2009! A number of key releases, plus a national tour and other high-profile appearances, have begun to grab industry attention in the UK and US. The track 'Everytime I Fall' was recently included on Fierce Angels compilation 'Angels Fall 2', alongside the likes of Radiohead, Ladytron and Groove Armada. 'Everytime I Fall' had already received a lot of airplay from 2fm (Ireland's equivalent to BBC Radio 1), making EchoGram one of the most played unsigned acts on Irish radio. April 2007 saw the Irish release of debut single 'Conspiracy', mixed by Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Depeche Mode, Kylie Minogue). It went straight in at No.1 on downloadmusic.ie, as well as spending 8 weeks on the playlist of Dublin's Phantom FM (equivalent to XFM). The video for 'Ophelia' has also won EchoGram many fans; it was playlisted on Irish cable station Channel 6 in February 2007 and has stayed there ever since. The EchoGram sound has been described as both "rock with a digital sheen" and "dark pop music", a mix between live guitars, big drums and electronica. This unique approach to making music, in what has become a very stale musical climate, is what makes EchoGram's material so attractive to radio DJs and music fans alike. Some of the UK's most high-profile producers and mixers can be counted as EchoGram fans. Alan Moulder, who has worked on albums by U2, Depeche Mode and The Smashing Pumpkins, recently commented that "the tracks are very commercial... The music is very much what is happening in the States at the moment and as Europe tends to follow on [EchoGram] could be in the right place at the right time." EchoGram's music has also impressed in LA; Larry Little, the man credited with discovering The Killers commented that EchoGram have "a lot of potential... with a bit of work could really turn heads everywhere." As a live act EchoGram is becoming one of the most exciting, energy-fraught outfits in the country. Having taken part in the first RTE 2fm 2moro 2our, this reputation as a live force to be reckoned with has been copper-fastened, not to mention boosting the band's profile both in Ireland and the UK. Pre-production for the debut album is currently under way, with the band due to go into the studio early next year. A debut UK single release is also in the pipeline, with a number of remixers on board to give an added dimension to an already distinctive sound. A few live dates are planned before the end of the year, with the band eager to get out there and prove what an exciting prospect EchoGram is for the future...
