LA ROCCA
www.larocca.ie
Dublin quartet La Rocca are one of the
hottest, most exciting bands to emerge from Ireland's bustling rock scene.
The last 12 months saw them play the legendary
South by South-West (SxSW) industry festival in Texas, journey across the
Atlantic will for a series of shows across Australia (where debut EP `Sing,
Song, Sung' is being played on national radio station Triple J), plus extraneous
dates in Japan and Canada before returning home to Ireland with an abundance of
stories of rock n roll excess. On their journey they managed to win fans and
influence people in high places.
Having perfected their studio tan with a season of writing and recording, the
band released their debut EP - the killer SING SONG SUNG - to high critical
acclaim, before elbowing their way in to the Irish top 50 singles chart.
The band balanced their late-night recording sessions with some mouth-watering
gigs - supporting The Vines and You Am I at the 1500 capacity Ambassador venue
and playing alongside Death in Vegas at the 2003 Trinity Ball. They finished the
year with a flourish as the live highlight of the UK industry fest, In The City
in Manchester where Music Week ( UK 's Billboard) proclaimed them "the best
unsigned band" to have performed at the event.
Mongrel:
`while not receiving the same amount of press as The Thrills, La Rocca are
certainly as good as them, if not better'
Hot Press:
`one of the most enjoyable outfits around town in recent
years'
Limerick
Leader:
`one of the most exciting bands in Ireland at the moment.
Bloody brilliant!'
