You will hear something familiar about Mono Band: the trademark ringing guitars and fluid melodies bear the unmistakable imprint of guitarist Noel Hogan's years with one of the world's most successful bands, The Cranberries. Mono Band's new music sounds fresh and different, too - from the Noel Hogan's subtle electronic touches and inventive programming to the haunting and beautiful voice of front-man Richard Walters.
The Mono Band Story…
While working on Mono Band's first few tracks,
Noel initially decided to work with various singers in order to give each track
a different sound. Half-way through the album, however, Noel was sent a track by
Oxford singer-songwriter Richard Walters. Upon listening to the track, Noel
immediately called up Richard to ask if he was interested in recording a track
for Mono Band's album. While working together, both Noel and Richard realised
that they couldn't just quit after one track. One song led to another and soon
Richard was fronting Mono Band at various gigs around the UK and the USA.
The unmistakable musical chemistry between Noel and Richard is now creating new buzz and new tunes. With the "bones of an album" together, which will feature mixes by Bernard Butler (ex-Suede and ex-McAlmont & Butler) and Cenzo Townsend (who has been working with Kaiser Chiefs and The Ordinary Boys), Mono Band are planning a world-wide release, tour and a new and intriguing sound that only Richard Walters and Noel Hogan can create.
