Boss Volenti are a hard hitting, hip shaking, no nonsense rock n roll band from Dublin. Their components are Rob Daly (Vocals and Bass), Laura Mackey (Lead Guitar), Dan O'Connor (Lead Guitar) and Graham Hopkins (Drums). Dan and Rob met at a party and found they had a common interest, a love of all things musical. Their heroes ranged from such artists as The Clash and Marvin Gaye to Thin Lizzy and Prince. The two decided to sit down and bounce some musical ideas off of one another. These sessions bore good fruit, and not before long they, along with the aid of a friend, had demo-ed some songs. Dan met Laura while both were studying guitar in college. A friendship was struck up, bands and songs were talked about, ideas swapped, World domination discussed and it was not before long that Dan and Rob asked her to step aboard Boat Volenti. In July 2005, Rob, Dan and Laura started to record an album with another drummer. Things didn’t work out however, and the guys were left a few weeks into recording with no one to bang the biscuit tins. It was about this time that through the musical grapevine that is Dublin, ex-Therapy? drummer Graham Hopkins got wind of the Boss Volenti sound and was hooked. Rob and Graham made contact and realised that they weren’t even just on the same page, they were pretty much on the same word. Graham called by the studio three days later and within four sessions they had recorded twelve songs. They cut their live teeth at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival last September in Dublin to rave reviews in Hot Press. On the strength of this, they were invited to play the prestigious In The City Festival in Manchester in October.
