Curb Records are excited to be releasing the debut album from the richly–talented singer-songwriter Don Mescall. Originally from ‘Lisnagry’ in Limerick, Southern Ireland Don’s musical journey began in the infamous pubs of Ireland where he sang 6 or 7 nights a week to a very willing audience. But with adventure in his heart and his guitar in hand he set off across the Irish Sea for London, England.
More gigs followed until a chance phonecall and big break led to Don opening for Richie Havens at the Mean Fiddler in London – he met the great man and as Don was warming up for the gig with a new song he had just written called ‘Paradise’, Richie heard the track and fell in love with it and as we say ‘the rest is history’ the song can be found on Richie’s album ‘Wishing Well’. This poignant meeting not only resulted in Richie recording the track but it moulded a great friendship – Richie has performed the track all around the world with Don being his special guest at major gigs.
Performing is a major part of Don’s career, where the mixture of his lyrically engaging songs and his intimate presence make him a popular favourite at all venues, he has toured with Joe Cocker, Shawn Colvin, Richie Havens and Frances Black.
Don’s amazing journey gained pace and a publishing deal followed which introduced Don into the different area of ‘co-writing’. Resulting in him joining forces with world famous songwriters including Graham Lyle (whose hit songs include ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ for Tina Turner), Randy Goodrum (who wrote amongst others the U.S. No. 1 hit and Grammy Award Winning Song’ You Needed Me’) Scott English (Mandy, Pretty Flamingo etc) Greg Sutton (‘Stop’ with Sam Brown) and Pam Sheyne (the massive Christina Aguilera hit ‘Genie In A Bottle’).
Don has just returned from a busy week in the U.S where he has been playing to packed houses in New York and writing in Nashville with Grammy Award winner LeAnn Rimes and Randy Goodrum.
It was, however, once again whilst playing a solo gig that his life was to take another dramatic turn., he was spotted by major independent label Curb Records and signed a record deal.
Don feels like he has completed the first circle in his career – he started out playing his songs live to a captive audience, he signed a publishing deal – has co-written songs – has singed a record deal with Curb Records and is soon to be out touring and promoting he new single and album – hitting the road this time as the artist.
So join Don on the musical journey of his first album where you will find a superb collection of beautifully narrated and haunting songs, which mixed with his raw vocal and exemplary guitar playing make this crafted album shine throughout. Join Don on his ‘Innocent Run’ and you won’t be disappointed.
